Mordiger is, rather inconveniently, the opposite of a girl dad ๐ญ๐
Early Mordiger is not the man making paper party crowns or attending imaginary tea parties and sipping with his pinkie out. If Stryx drags him into a game, he'll ask what the victory condition is. If she presents him with a warty little frog, he'll smack it out of the window and snap that it harbors disease. If she composes a charming little ditty on fairy queens, he'll set her to reading a war treatise out loud to suitably occupy her eggshell skull.
Mordiger is aman who measures affection in food, shelter, education, self defense training, structural integrity and body counts. His love language is neither praise nor words of affirmation but brute logistics.
Worse, he actively resents the fact that he cares. He is basically harboring a strategic vulnerability + catastrophic lapse in judgment who tramples over his carpets in muddy boots. Every time he catches himself softening, he responds by becoming twice as bluntly practical.
This ofc means readers with difficult fathers may actually find him... uncomfortably familiar. This man is emotionally literate in exactly three dialects: "Are you injured?", "Have you eaten?", and "Who do I need to kill?"
The entire point of his arc is that none of this is enough, and he has to learn that being a father sometimes means stopping your city-sized brain long enough to offer praise to an ugly little crayon drawing a little girl has made and maybe understanding that her spooky little quirks aren't childish bids for attention or useful skills to exploit but part of who she is and worth showing regard for.
Tl;dr the character development is essentially watching a terrifying warlord discover that the highest form of leadership is allowing a tiny spider gremlin to interrupt his paperwork because she found a particularly dashing dung beetle and taught it to waltz.
This will go about as smoothly as you'd expect โค๏ธ
Once the book releases and we officially get to look at the world/characters, will that affect some of the contraband material we get? Like, for example; A month featuring on a main character where we get to learn more details about them specifically such as trivia/favourite foods/fashion/fighting and flirting styles/lore in how you designed their appearance and personality/character arc over the books/ect ect?

Post-release, expect plenty of character lore, trivia, music, animations exploring their histories, bonus artwork, and other goodies in the Contraband Network.
The illustrated lorebooks will dive even deeper into the world. Each book will have multiple companion lorebooks, with the first focusing on the city and its key players. Future volumes will explore everything from slang, songs, and music to folklore, monsters, favorite foods, and countless other corners of the setting. ๐ค
