Das sind Decopods Ich hatte es schon mal erwähnt, es gab eine Phase, da hab ich drüber nachgedacht, ob wir uns nicht auch mal einen Roller zulegen sollten. Das Auto ist schon recht groß, Kurzstrecke grundsätzlich schlecht fürs Material und zu allem Überfluss nutzt Line das Ding nicht. Heißt dann, dass sie entweder das Fahrrad nimmt, ich sie fahren muss oder die geplante Aktivität einfach nicht stattfindet. Doof. Da wäre so ein Roller schon ein bisschen praktischer, weil man einfach flexibler ist. Versicherungstechnisch schlägt das auch nicht wesentlich zu Buche und wenn man das Ganze noch mit Strom betreibt, auch irgendwo gut für die Umwelt. Unsere Besitzverhältnisse zeigen aber auch: Die Idee hat sich bisher nicht durchgesetzt. Allein schon, weil ich dann erstmal intensiv in die Materie einsteigen müsste, ein paar Anschaffungskosten sind dann trotzdem dabei und sagt ja auch keiner, dass das Ding dann tatsächlich auch intensiv benutzt wird. Außerdem gibt es nicht das Gefühl, dass wir das unbedingt brauchen würden und die Lebensqualität signifikant gesteigert wird. Daran werden auch die Decopods nichts ändern, aber ein Hingucker sind sie allemal. Hat ein bisschen was von Retrofuturistik und entstammen der Idee von Randy Grubb. Unter der Haube werkeln Piaggio-Roller, die man auch eher selten auf der Straße sieht. Halt Roller mit drei statt zwei Rädern, verpackt in Chrome, wenn man es mal ganz nüchtern betrachtet. At the Las Vegas Convention Center in November 2014, Randy Grubb revealed his plan to assemble an aluminum-bodied roadster. Inspired by a 1937 Delahaye 145, found at the Mullins Museum in Oxnard, California, the project was set to start off from some of the best technology the automotive world had to offer. The marvelous vehicle took two years to complete, as building an aluminum body from scratch was quite the challenge. The 1937 Delahaye 145 benefits from a V12 engine, courtesy of legendary engine builder Ryan Falconer; obviously, many parts of the V12 are unique, including the block, crank, camshaft, and cylinder heads.
The Falconer V12 typically displaces 600ci using; however, Falconer Racing Engines delivered a 500ci engine, with a shorter stroke while still producing 648 hp. That shiny exterior comprises polished aluminum components, riveted in place to create a weld-free exterior. The feather shape shows up in the windshield, with the frame cut out of a solid plate of aluminum using a water jet, as well as in in the stitching of the seat bottoms and backs, complemented by soft blue leather by Greg’s Upholstery. The same high-quality leather was chosen to wrap the door panels and the dash, with the latter featuring a custom-designed oval gauge cluster from Classic Instruments.
