Some of you already know I’m moving (hence the current writing / fandom break, boo). Anyway, seems like we fucked up somewhere with cancelling and transferring the utility contracts so now we’re tackling the last weekend of deep cleaning before we hand over the old place next week … with no electricity. No hoover, no warm water, it sucks.
And all I can think of is S1 Robert Grantham and Mr Carson looking all befuddled because what use would electricity be to a domestic servant, isn’t that rather excessive?! I’m on the floor, on my knees, scrubbing and giggling away. My spouse, who has never watched a single episode of Downton, is supremely confused.
This is a personal post. It was not intended for mass recommendation.
Filmmakers, if you're making a period piece, and you start thinking to yourself that a female character over the age of sixteen or so should actually wear her hair loose and messy rather than pinned up in a historically accurate style to show that she is Young or Free-Spirited or Unconventional or Down-To-Earth or Impoverished or Relatable To Contemporary Audiences...that is the devil talking. STOP. DOING. THIS. It's not clever. It's not innovative. It's quite frankly rather distracting.
I have so many different planners and not a single plan.
I was talking with a friend about my childhood/teenage male fictional crush when we realized something quite funny
Maybe, MAYBE there's a pattern somewhere
Not sure yet
Please tell me yours so I don't feel alone

I was talking to my mom today, and somehow the conversation turned to Star Wars and some of the fan discussion around Tech surviving or not.
Now, my mom isn't really a Star Wars fan. She's seen the movies because some of her kids (namely, my brother and me) were interested, but she's retained practically no memory of the plot or characters besides vague name recognition of the main OT characters (case in point: it was only a few months ago that she finally realized Darth Vader died a heroic death trying to make up for at least one of his mistakes - and that was only because I outright told her that plot point. // Mom: "I still don't know why your brother likes the villain so much." / Me: "Mom, you know Darth Vader died saving his son, right? His story is basically about how Luke's love got through to him and he died trying to NOT be the villain anymore." / Mom: "... What?" //). Anyway, she'll patiently listen to anything her kids talk about 😆 But because of her personal lack of interest in Star Wars itself, I haven't talked to her much about Bad Batch or the other shows, much less my current theories about them.
So I really am not sure how we ended up on this topic, but I was explaining how a certain character sacrificed himself to save his family and apparently died in the fall, that I am one of the fans who thinks he survived but others don't think so and some don't want him to come back. She asked why, and I told her that some of the most prominent reasons I've seen named in that regard are "too many characters come back from the dead," "it will cheapen his sacrifice if he comes back," and "it will lessen the emotional impact."
It was at this point that my mom started looking puzzled and said, "How would it cheapen his sacrifice if he lived? His family wouldn't die if he survived, would they?" And then, before I could answer those questions, she continued, "And why do people think surviving means he doesn't have to deal with the trauma of falling and living through that? Wouldn't that be enough emotional impact?"
And for some reason, hearing this coming from a non-fan who knows next to nothing about the story or the fan debates, and knew nothing about my own thoughts on the topic, made me feel so validated.
Though I think my thrilled and somewhat Wrecker-level loud reaction of "OH MY GOSH YOU GET IT!!!" might have concerned her a little bit 😂
Today, I hang out with my teacher
(The Zhongli cosplayer @ticklystuff saw was wearing Ayato's cosplay today heheheheh)
my teacher and I chatted in Chinese for almost the entire day, so when I saw my other friends, I was like 🤖💭 My portuguese just wouldn't work HAHAHAHHA and my teacher's portuguese isn't perfect so she couldn't really talk to my friends properly, but my brain lagged really bad...
I had lots of fun!!! and soon I need to go out again to meet another friend 🏃
I'm not fluent in every language I know, but at least I can chat in Portuguese (duh), English, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, and Brazilian Sign. And I find this awesome, I love learning new stuff 🤓
Do you guys ever go to bed early, just so that you can tell yourself a little hayffie one-shot in your mind? Like a bedtime story? 😂
