#random crapolla

I know people ship them... I mean, I know a *lot* of people ship them... but I do not see this at all.  Am I missing something?  From page one, and through the trailer, I am not picking up that kind of chemistry.  I get a major aro-ace vibe from them, and there is even a line from the book that mentions how angels don’t generally go in for that sort of thing (paraphrase).

For clarification, I am not against them as a romantic ship, and I am definitely not against m/m ships (my favorite ships are m/m, TBH).  But I do confess, I might be a skosh defensive of my aro-ace, queerplatonic headcanon about the two of them, being aro-ace myself, and feeling a little like everyone *has* to be shipped romantically in fandom...  I can’t think of a single QP ship that isn’t a rarepair or solo ship.  Plenty of BroTP’s, and endless OTP’s, but not QPR’s.

And it’s not like I don’t pick up romantic vibes from other fictional relationships, and I have my own ships that are non-canonical ships.  This isn’t at all about being anti-shipping, anti-romance, or anti-mlm.  But I am pro m/m QPR shipping, too, and I feel a little like the rug is pulled out from under me on this one.

Meanwhile, I am exhausted, so I’m gonna turn in. To those who didn’t get their prompts done yet, I absolutely plan to still do them, it’s just I have a deadline to meet this week, so it may take me a bit. Thanks again for the prompts! I was staring at the white wall of doom, and couldn’t figure out what to draw, so this has been super helpful for the brain juices.

I then came home and promptly fell over, because peopleing is exhausting, my dudes, even if it’s the good kind of peopleing.

Most of the things I did as a teenager?  I don’t remember, and neither does anyone else, because we didn’t live online.  But my kids?  Everything they do is potential social media fodder, whether it be from their own devices, or from the devices of their friends. That stupid thing you did or said when you were thirteen, that nobody remembers?  Well, today, everyone remembers it, and just in case they didn’t, Facebook will pull it up as a memory.  Permanent record.

The consequences of giving voice to a passing thought that hasn’t been carefully vetted first are massive nowadays!  I have said some things in the past, in a heated moment, and later wished I hadn’t, or wished I had phrased things more carefully, or less hurtfully, or maybe picked my moments better, or whatever.  But that’s always been on a small scale--never really involving more than a comparatively small group of people, and is therefore easier to manage.  But if you do that now, online, or on camera, or whatever--you might be paying consequences the rest of your life.  For one stupid comment that you maybe didn’t even mean the way it was taken.

Everyone makes mistakes online, and everyone has bad days, but I think some of us are more aware of the permanence of social media posts than others.  And I admit to having a lot of apprehension about the consequences of online living for my kid’s generation, because they haven’t watched the social media snowball grow from snowflake to avalanche like I have.

But I did get the showers cleaned and put up new shower curtain liners, reorganized the closet, installed another hanging closet organizer to have a little more space for my clothes (’cause I don’t have an actual dresser, I just have closer shelves).  Anyway, the bedroom looks a lot better than it did, so that’s good.
