So sometimes I get bored and don’t know what to draw. And I love designing characters and things. So me and my partner created a huge ass generator, and with some extra help from a friend I have put it on tumblr.

Here’s how it works

There is now a button in my side bar over that way [---->] called Art Challenge. Because it was originally made offline with a timer for 30min periods. You will now be in control of the timing yourself.

Hit the button and it will take you to a separate part of my blog, where a list of traits will be generated.

To get a new list, simply refresh the window. [F5]

The list has a set of traits, and each trait has a pool of at least 20 items. Though species is 40+.

Traits as follows:

Style [For longer or bigger pieces this would determine the style the finished piece should look like. Ex: Disney, graffiti, sketchy, John Bauer]

Setting [The setting of your piece or design, an overall theme for the picture. Ex: Steampunk, A TV show, IKEA]

Culture [Culture is to set the tone of the character design. How you use it is up to you, but it is meant as an inspiration as a whole. Ex: Mayan, Pre-Neolithic, Greek]

Species [Now we get to the fun part. The species of your character should be as similar as possible to the roll. Ex: Human, Elf, Dragon, Sphinx]

Nature [A strong Characteristic of your character as inspiration for poses or expression. Ex: Naughty, Joyful, Timid, Glutton]’

Body [The basic makeup of the characters body or strongest defining bodily feature. Ex: Elderly, Husky, Meaty, Petite]

Quirk [The characters most distinguishing feature, up for your interpretation. Ex: Facial Hair, Ears, tattoos]

Work [This is mostly to give your character some clothes and context and maybe something extra to build on and inspire. Ex: Bard, Clergy, Writer, Superhero]

Now some of these might overlap or clash horribly. Though they are all of course open to a pick and choose. If you are simply doodling, then maybe stay away from Style and Setting. Or if you prefer a certain setting then ignore the Work should it not fit.

Future features that I hope to implement: Species: chimera - Should you roll a Chimera, the roll will show you two species that you should mold together for your character. Currently Chimera is its own species and you may interpret as you please.
