i love drawing characters with god complexes with adam and eve symbolism. though, really, barry fits the myth of cain and able better. only he is playing both parts. cain becomes jealous of his brother because God loved able more. God appreciated the sacrifice of lamb more than he loved the produce cain produced from the earth. cain invents murder for this injustice, and is punished with exile.
barry, i think, is deeply jealous of his own ability to excuse his actions. he (barry) is jealous of barry's (dr ill's) ability to appease God (Barry) with his work. the barry that studied science and medicine is different from the one that actually practices it, so he punishes that version of himself with guilt. he is cursed in exile absent of god in this hospital so he invents god and god is him and god loves murder but not Murder. god is a carnivore. god wants a sacrifice but not the blood so you have to stop seeing them as people which is easy because you are god and dont see anyone as people anyways.
you could also probably superimpose this tricotomy onto adam, eve, and the apple itself but i dont know if it has enough self loathing. maybe the bite, right. the bite works to represent the way he hurts for the greater good. theres some violenxe in it i think. barry has so many themes of consumption it makes me ill
