How to push the boundaries of an average world? Business?
World is made by the average people, for the average people and of(belongs to) the average people. Sometimes this worrying trend attracts our attention, and most of the times it gets answered sporadically. Have we gotten too complacent to design our worlds just enough to match the average requirements? The education systems work for most of the kids, and most often fails when a kid with IQ above/below average for that age is subjected to the education system. We are living in a world of increasingly unique/deviant people, with varied skills and mental make ups. Shouldn't we start pushing our boundaries and tolerances for the both extremes who exist among us, often as mis-fits? We call them rebels, we see them as not fit into our societies, we feel they would disrupt the way we live. But all we see is that they disrupt the way we live, only for good. From psychological studies to engineering, we have only seen the good examples when these extreme dwelling people create or are studied upon. We simply try to make everyone fit into one acceptable template that we now call society, for our collective benefit. Yet look at all things around us, the products we use to the freedom we enjoy, everything was the outcome of people who have been a bit (sometimes more) different from the majority. That difference could have many names and many forms: An IQ of 160, a tall person, an ambidextrous person, a left-handed person, an autistic genius, an extremely beautiful person, a deformed person and the list goes on. The metrics could be anything, but the point here is we need to accommodate them, as anything worthwhile that has ever been created, was created by them for us; From poetry to engineering to politics. We the average, have to make the world a bit easier for those mis-fits. If we need better businesses, business models and sustainable ethical corporations, may be what we need is a dyslexic person in the boardroom, more than an MBA from a leading template university. Hunger can only be solved by the one who is hungry.
