Rakeeta's First Week as a College Freshman!
Rakeeta (on the right) is from the Josephinum Class of 2011. She is a current student at the University of Illinois. We checked in with her to see how her first week was going - here is what she had to say!
No matter the amount of advice and tips, nothing can actually prepare you to leave for college, and I am experiencing that first hand! My whole first week of being a University of Illinois freshmen was awesome. I am an extremely outgoing person so I decided that I would speak to almost everyone and specifically, freshmen. My though process is this: we are all the new kid, so there is no need to feel out of place. That method led to me meeting a lot of people before the upperclassmen returned and classes began. Which led to all the fun! When I arrived, I had a huge college campus and I could do whatever I wanted with it. I went to a lot of social events and got to meet the coolest and strangest people ever. And then I got to meet my roommate, which went way better than I expected. She's so fun and outgoing as well but in a different way, so we still educate each other outside the classroom. I honestly love it here. I heard it would be the best years of my life and thats already proving to be true!
