Somehow missed the final part of steel jaws, good god Handler Sigma is a evil, evil woman.
It even has the effects of reaching across works, it recontextualizes so much of the endings of other works and I feel quite silly for not finding it sooner.
Of course the bad ending is promised, of course everything plays out just like the handler foresaw, of course the girls make their escape only with the permission of their handler, of course khyrnn declares war upon the empire after seeing the direction of her work.
As an aside, my first ever post got a lot of attention and I'm a bit afraid of posting again. I've been writing a bit but the words are fighting me. I'll post again soon i promise :>
