“I essentially began with a very simple chord progression, inspired by playing the song "The Big Rock Candy Mountain" on a practice piano at my school. I ran those piano chords through various effects until I got the effect that opens the song. I kept adding layers and experimenting with the new recording gear I had recently acquired, and then eventually I realized I had built this massive wall of organs, reverb and chainsaw guitars. It took about three months of experimenting with different sounds, and I had amassed quite a few gigabytes of musical textures and alternate takes before landing on this one. To finish it off, I commissioned a friend to record two cello tracks for the project and mixed them really deep into the mix, I think it really adds some strength to the wall of sonic textures I blast at the listener here.”
