Hot tip for desktop pc users which sounds insane but is unfortunately true: due some shit coding on Amazon Prime Video (Prime Video specifically; not the regular Amazon shopping site), even just browsing the homepage without selecting anything to play can cause your computer to permanently freeze and lockup in a way to which even ctrl+alt+del won't respond, forcing you to do a hard reset (which is bad for obvious reasons, especially if you are like me and running a RAID 1 setup).
This issue has nothing to do with your pc's performance abilities or settings and everything to do with Amazon's backend video software (yes, even if you're not on a screen where it's actively playing anything).
Basically, avoid using Prime video on your pc at all costs and use it on a smart tv or mobile device instead as the app doesn't seem to suffer from the same issues as the desktop website (because it's a plugin program).
Amazon seems to have been aware of this issue for years and doesn't care to fix it.
