("why do you return to me?" you ask as I wipe your bloody hands clean of the sanguine darkness that had embossed them--I can only smile) i return because you are a broken thing--not that i am not broken, either--and yet i feel, somehow, that the ichored brokenness between us can be mended: (oh, look at me waxing poetic now, of all times--what i meant to say was that you and i are the same) i return because you are a hurricane, a whirlwind of power that has swept many off their feet--not that i have not stumbled--and yet i feel, somehow, that behind the fierce winds of the gods that blow around you the eye of the storm is a tranquility of a place, waiting for an inhabitant: (oh, look at me rambling now, sitting beside the fire--what i meant to say was that you are my ruinated salvation and i am yours) i return because you are a smattering of diamonds in the velvet sky, a scythe of nebulae that threaten to tear the heavens open--not that i have not been wounded--and yet i feel, somehow, that if it came to life or death you would rather slit your own throat than let anyone touch me: (oh, look at me falling in love now, gazing into your soul--what i meant to say was that the gods will have to find another curse to bestow upon you, for this one has turned into a blessing)
i return because i am the Beauty and you are the Beast, and you have become tame to me, so very tame to me
