The RAH-66 Comanche attack helicopter. As an Army Aviation professional my entire career, I was totally stoked about this new bad ass helicopter. But behind schedule, over budget, excessive mission creep, and the fall of the Eastern European communist threat all combined to doom the program. The GAO would issue a scathing report and Congress would cancel the program. And probably rightfully so.
But the aviation nerd in me was devastated.
