the holdsworth family; with details about the taggaro family (x)
"kahlil gibran once wrote "and passion, unattended, is a flame that burns to its own destruction," but from my experience: as long as you can get away with it, you don't have to face destruction. or, as long as you're my father, there are never any consequences."
The Holdsworth family consists of a father and patriarch: Commander George R. Holdsworth (Daniel Day Lewis); mother and wife: Elizabeth O. Holdsworth, daughter of the late movie director Victor Armstrong (Courteney Cox); only daughter, eldest child, and black sheep: Violet Georgiana Holdsworth (Marie Avgeropoulos); Violet's twin and the child that stands to inherit everything: Anthony E. Holdsworth (Grant Gustin); and the youngest child, the golden child: Oliver P. Holdsworth (Harry Styles).
From the outside, the Holdsworth family is believable as the poster of perfection. George is a retired Navy Commander from old money, who has since put much of his efforts into local politics, fundraising, and other social gatherings. Elizabeth runs a successful, multimillion dollar fashion magazine out of Philadelphia while also maintaining a beautiful home. Picture perfect, except for the eldest child and black sheep of the family. Violet did everything right when she was younger, but around her 22nd birthday, she seemed to have a meltdown at one of the annual Holdsworth fundraising events. She has since moved out of the family home, been cut off from most of the family's money, and pursued a career that her parents are not particularly happy about.
Why the sudden change? Well, meet the Taggaro family. Single mother and loving matriarch: Catalona F. Taggaro (Salma Hayek); and her four beautiful children: Selena L. Taggaro (Karla Souza), Luis T. Taggaro (David Lambert), Georgiana S. Taggaro (Lauren Jauregui), and William D. Taggaro (Adam Irigoyen). Selena is ten months older than Violet and Anthony. They went to school together. Catalona went to school with George and Elizabeth; she was in the same year with Elizabeth, freshmen when George was a senior. Violet didn't meant to find out, she didn't want to find out, but she did and she couldn't unfind out.
When Violet confronted her father, he had little to say and no apologies to make. It was Violet who decided to leave, after her meltdown at the party which thankfully for George nobody knew the real reason for. It was the fact that there were four of them, that the oldest was older than her and the youngest younger than her little brother. It hurt. And she wanted nothing to do with her father. She promised not to tell, but only because she doesn't want to hurt her brothers and especially not her mother. She meets up with her brothers quite frequently, and still attends a fundraiser for her mother from time to time. But the Holdsworth family will never be the same for her leaving.
