After listening to #radscience on repeat for most of the weekend. Here's my brief review: I'm hyped out of my mind that one of my favorite groups has come out of retirement. The album feels like lead singer Matt Langston's other project The Jellyrox (of which I'm super fond), but with guitars and drums. Ultimately, it is an inverted Sugarfist (punk rock with electronic supplement) and leads with electronic and punk rock to back/pepper it. Better or worse? No, just different than the pre-disbandment Eleventy works. Ultimately have no qualms with this album.......EXCEPT the above pictured song. I can no longer recommend or endorse Eleventyseven to any of my younger friends due to a blatant and brash S-bomb in the second verse. Though Eleventyseven is no longer a technically Christian band and has separated personal faith from a label on their music, I find it troubling that they made that kind of jump when most of their fanbase is predominately in the Christian sphere and support them from that projection. The album still speaks towards relatable life circumstances of the late 20-year olds and offers some good moral postulating on things like the overconsumption of smartphones.....but Eleventy definitely did not raise their caliber with the introduction of common vulgarity. Eleventyseven has always been a relatable, yet wholesome experience to listen to. A preteen, adolescent, and early 20's dream band. All in all, the album is a hit in my mind.....with a really crappy "stone in the gut" for track 3 alone. Congratz guys on the return! Eleventy fam unite!
