one of my primary advocations for listening to the band ween is that these silly fellas sure can run a good novelty showtune ! π¬πββοΈ
limp bizkit if they were into 1980s ska rock bands: its all about that oingo boingo bullshit
it rly is the pisser that whole musical careers in the 20th century could have just been based on singing abt how trains are so fun and cool theyr the greatest thing ever and like living in the u.s where are they all. what have u done with them u bastards
my favorite song in all this world is converse's cover of 'o mistress mine' a very old song from the elizabethan era made known still today by shakespeare's play 'twelfth night' however we cant know if he had wrote this song originally. what i love abt this particular version is how it differs from the typical stage production and acting where it may be performed as if a church gospel with the vocal performance doming thru the otherwise silent and large stage as ppl are taking reverence, i would say that converse's version is very somber and personable. i would say that all of my favorite shakespeare songs are performed as these small, personable covers rather than grand orchestrations i think its very sentimental and human

one of my fav train songs as it is performed by johnny cash. it is a folk song with no singular credited writer, one of the earliest recordings of this song was performed by an ensemble of inmates in 1934 with credited lead being a mr kelly pace. can be listened to here if interested. its just a good song with an interesting history that has passed through many tongues
song that is currently stuck in my head it has a fun racing rhythm π
one of my favorite folk songs as performed by jean ritchie. it has remarkable pace and incredible visual language i do adore the works of ritchie and her history of archiving appalachian folk music, she is a delightful artistπ«Ά
