Thank you ❤️ yes I’m ok my irl friends have been really helpful for me today. I don’t know what I would do without all my friends I love them so much (you too moot) 🫂🫂🫂🫂🫂 Life just got me feeling like this recently
🌹 Alyssa is a homebody, so she likes to stay in his room where the bayou is, but Alastor also wants to encourage her to get out of the hotel and explore what Hell has to offer. However it’s hard to be discreet about a relationship if you’re seen out dancing or dining together all the time, so it’s more of a special occasion when they go out. And since Pentagram City is huge, he likes to take her somewhere new each time. If you were to catch their paramour, they’d likely be in his room. Once the relationship is out in the open, they’d likely go to cafés or stroll the parks in Cannibal Town.
📵 As we know, Alastor is stubborn and vehemently refuses to get involved with modern tech. Alyssa has recognized that it’s a trigger for something, even if she doesn’t understand how it came about (love her as he may, he’s never gonna tell her the specifics of his history with Vox. Maybe eventually it’ll come out that he mentored him breifly before he “realized it was a waste of time” or something, but nothing substantial that wouldn’t be an outright lie)
She understands and accepts that he’s probably never going to change, and he’s had to learn to accept that tech is really all she’s ever known, having lived a century after he did, so the internet and computers are things she uses regularly for work and to research all the nerdy things he loves to hear her talk about. He’s grown a bit more of a tolerance of, and an appreciation for other peoples use of modern tech while maintaining firm in his own boundaries. If anything, he’s influenced her to read more books, and will loan her one of his if she shows even a slight interest in one of them (mostly to steer her away from the internet). Even if the info in the book is outdated, he finds the rants she goes on about the misinformation hilarious and adorable.
❤️ Now I have a lot of opinions on the concept of love languages, one of those being that people have one they like giving and it can be different than the one they’re most receptive to, another being that all 5 are necessary and can be received by anyone, and you can learn to show love in ways that aren’t natural to you to accommodate someone you love.
Alastor struggles to receive words of affirmation, but is usually good about communicating how much he actually cares about Alyssa and enjoys her company, even if he has to beat around the bush to get it out sometimes. The words “I love you” always stings whether he’s hearing it or saying it, but he finds other words for it when she needs them. Sometimes Alyssa has to stop herself from accidentally making him uncomfortable by affectionately gushing over him. He doesn’t mind hearing compliments or the occasional expressive comment, but less is more for him.
Most of their love is expressed through quality time spent together. It’s Alastor’s preferred way to receive love because it doesn’t really feel like she’s doing anything to/for him when she’s just there, and at first the other languages just feel like manipulation to him. And of course Alyssa is happy to spend any time she can with him even if it’s in silence or doing separate things. They often just like to be around each other, and they fact that both of them are introverted loners makes the time all the more special.
That said, he feels that if he doesn’t show affection in a way that’s tangible or quantifiable in some way, that he’s not doing enough, so he often does things that he believes will make things easier for her or just make her happy. The first time he did something like this for her, he made a leather bound notebook to replace cheap one she had for work that was falling apart. He told her he just couldn’t stand looking at it anymore, but if that was the only reason, he’d have just pestered her to replace it herself if he bothered at all.
Alyssa likes her quality time paired with physical affection, even if it’s just slightly leaning on Alastor while doing something together. He does like to be physical, but only on his terms, so she’s told him to not to hesitate whenever he feels like being cuddly or playful, and mostly waits for him to come to her. Sometimes she will try to initiate, but she’ll make a point to ask first, which in turn, he’s more receptive. Most of the reason Alastor is so adverse to being touched is because most people do it with the intent to invade his comfort, condescend, or manipulate him. He’s actually doesn’t really mind it from time to time if he doesn’t feel that an ulterior motive is behind it.
In summary: They both like spending quality time together best, Alastor prefers doing acts of service for her, and Alyssa likes to be physically affectionate and tell him how much she likes him whenever he lets her, and he does his best to reciprocate in these areas for her sake.
Thank you so much for the questions! And for reaching out! 💖
