Five things on my future:
I’m hoping to find a new job within the next year. Right now, I’ve got the right title (assistant editor), but it’s not in the right field (magazine/book publishing) or with the right coworkers (humans I don’t want to murder).
Actually, on that note, I’m not even sure if I want to continue down the whole editing career path? The more time I spend reading other people’s stuff, the more I want to write my own. So… I’m going to work on adding to my writing portfolio (right now it’s mainly filled with articles from when I basically covered the senior citizen beat for a local newspaper, ie EXCITING STUFF) with satyrical pop culture pieces so I can get a job at a satyrical pop culture publication (might need to hire someone to write those for me).
I’m heading out to San Francisco and LA in May to visit some friends (including hannahmcnoface)! It’s literally one of the few things that gets me through workdays: knowing that eventually I will be outdoors without a coat, and on a WEEKDAY. I’m going to wear all black and nap on a rock like a lizard. (Beatnik lizard, I guess.)
They’re forecasting eight inches of snow in Chicago (where I live, btw) by tomorrow night. I’m forecasting a sick day. Or a my-sink-is-leaking-and-I-have-to-“work”-at-home-so-the-landlord-can-fix-it day.
I’m going to go eat an oatmeal cookie.
