Soooo just had my first David Lynch experience….
Thank you to the lovely friend that introduced me …..what….WHAT?
I will forever be haunted by radiator lady….
“Black has depth… you can go into it… And you start seeing what you’re afraid of. You start seeing what you love, and it becomes like a dream.”
Rest in horror 🖤

watched Industrial Symphony No. 1: The Dream of the Brokenhearted, 1990
the film i genuinely loved, dare i say it’s adorable in its careful treatment [of lovable feelings]. but what’s been on my mind since pressing play, is the Radiator Lady i saw the first time watching Lynch’s picture.
i’ve not yet seen a lynch film without a singing lady scene, and i’m officially halfway through his cinematography.
so curious as to how this image of a singing woman transformed over the years of Lynch’s work
what connotations did it carry, how its role in the narrative changed, what’s different in each picture? i’m sure there are some essays looking into that, but it’s never as interesting as inventing the wheel yourself
I love Lady in the Radiator.
