These are the two does I kept out of the last batch

On the right: Silver Fox out of Poppy & Digit. Probably the nicer of the two, slightly. On the left: Steel SF/NZ mix, Blossom & Chester.

These pics and weights are from 3/30/21, but still, they're a little light for their age. They'd been out in the tractor, eating a LOT of grass and not much pellets, which is likely to slow their growth, so I'm not worried. I think they'll catch up.

These two are now sharing a cage in the barn, getting along well. Lily has two 9 week olds (by Chester) in with her still; they should go out to the tractor. Blossom has been having a break, but is hopefully pregnant, due this weekend. Poppy had 7 pure SF babies yesterday (4 black, 2 blue, 1 choc!) and her 6 week old litter by Thistle is in a growout cage, waiting until they're big enough to go out & graze.

so august is gonna be pretty busy for me, but i’ll try to remember to keep this blog updated with adorable bunnies!

if you’ve noticed things have been slow here - yeah.  i know.  it’s still hotter than the surface of the sun, and i have been spending most of my time indoors to avoid having a heat stroke.  the bunnies have been taking it like champs though, they definitely deal with it better than i do.

additionally, two weeks ago this little lady came into my life and turned my whole routine upside-down!

freyja the whippet mix wasn’t a planned addition, but i had the opportunity to take her out of a bad situation, and fell in love with her.  so we’re having to go through the road-bumps of having a new dog with not a lot of training ;p

ALSO ALSO:  we bought a house!  FINALLY.  we’re still in the process of signing papers and paying fees and getting inspections, but it looks like i’ll be getting out of texas in early september.  my husband and i have been living apart since MAY and i am so tired of not only the distance but being in this state that i hate so much.

full offence to anyone who lives in texas.  this place is just way too hot and humid.

we put up a sun shade, since with the new position in the sky, the buns in the bottom cages were pretty much in direct sunlight most of the day

we were able to come back home last night.  the street was only accessible by truck, but family brought us and the dog in and we spent the night in our own beds finally.  by some miracle, nobody on our street had water in their houses, though some lower than us were right up at the thresholds.  this morning our yard is about 90% free of standing water, and we can get started cleaning up.  the only damage we got was some of the skirting under our house was washed out, the rabbit tractor collapsed, and one of the water buckets broke and will need repair.  it’s amazing it wasn’t worse than that.  just five minutes down the road an entire subdivision is flooded.

we picked up the rest of the animals this morning and got all the cages cleaned up and everyone back in their proper place.  the rabbits seem so happy to finally stretch out and have consistent food and water after three days of rationing in tiny carriers.  

there’s actually some sun out today, amazing!  here’s to hoping it dries all this water up quickly.  it’s going to be a long, tiring recovery for this city.
