"no."   harrys   tone   is   stern,   and   his   eyes   are   locked   on   the   ground.   he   felt   stupid   for   even   telling   the   story   about   his   elementary   school   speech...   and   it   was   written   on   his   face.   "stop   asking   questions,   i   know   you're   making   fun   of   me.   you   know   they   called   me   the   vampire   kid   for, like,   a   year,   right?"

maybe   it   was   the   length   of   the   day   weighing   on   his   eyes.   still,   there   was   a   serenity   settling   into   him.   sometimes,   rue   was   the   only   person   who   made   him   feel   normal.   he   wondered   if   she   knew   that,   as   he   glanced   over   at   her.   his   eyes   traced   the   light   of   the   movie   screen   that   outlined   her   seemingly   perfectly...   a   highlight   down   to   each   strand   of   hair.   when   she   laughed,   like   they   had   been   throughout   the   movie   they   were   watching   that   probably   wasn't   funny,   he   lifted   a   handful   of   popcorn   to   his   mouth.   "you're   my   best   friend."

oh my god the SCIENCEEEEE the absolute genius levels of craziness this guy is on. the movie really dumbs him down a lot tbh and while still extremely intelligent i can’t emphasise enough how adaptable and creative ryland’s ideas are in the book. as someone with little to no interest OR knowledge in anything scientific, i really picked the wildest muse because it’s a necessity to his character. i do enjoy the research, but my entire portrayal comes with a heavy disclaimer that it will not always be accurate for certain and that i’m not too interested in determining the exact numbers or facts surrounding things, so if that bothers you i’m sorry but i am NOT that pressed. that being said i HAVE found a lot to love via researching and learned things that i never would have sought out for myself via writing him, so i’m actually very grateful for the broadening of my horizons that will inevitably continue to happen as i write him <3
