AU: Roger fakes his own death, disappears with his lovers, and takes up gardening.

He calls his flower beds his Gardens of Love because they’re made out of all his loved ones (family and friends and even acquaintances that made a difference for him): he assigns a flower to each of his loved ones and plants it. (Gaban wholeheartedly approves.)

Roger plants asphodels for Rayleigh, peonies for Shakky, and hibiscus for Rouge! ❤️ He has echinacea for himself, but that was a team effort from his partners: Shakky came up with it, Ray went looking for it, and Rouge planted it! 🥰

Not pictured, but he also plants blue poppies for Buggy and red geraniums for Shanks. Then, after they find out Rouge is pregnant and he’s got a grasp on their baby’s temperament thanks to The Voice—over which he has cuteness aggression—he plants firecrackers for Ace. And when Sabo and Luffy are adopted—either Garp pulls an uno reverse card and dumps them into Roger’s care, or Dragon asks for a favor after the Gray Terminal—they also get their own: gentians and sunflowers, respectively. ❤️

Roger has such a green thumb, especially because he can communicate with them and find out their needs if he doesn’t know them already. The plants absolutely adore him back!

He loves talking to his plants! Roger could yap at them for hours if left unattended. Sometimes, when Ray and Shakky leave for Sabaody, he lets Rouge sleep in so she can recover from a narcoleptic episode, and he will go do just that.

Roger talks about everything and anything, but his and the flowers’ favorite conversation subject is mooning over his partners and kids. The D flowers—the ones planted specifically for them—preen when he praises and compares them to his family. ❤️

He loooves organizing picnics in their backyard but he’s shit at cooking. It’s okay though, all he has to do is bribe Rayleigh with kisses and he’ll cook for them (a feat, considering two of them are D’s and the other two still spend Emperor-levels of stamina, even in ‘retirement’).

The very first time Rayleigh goes on an Auction House mission—just a couple years after Roger goes into hiding—he cuts his hair and fully shaves as to somewhat disguise himself from the marines. He absolutely hates it, but the other three think he’s absolutely dreamy and give him lots of love on the matter. (This is coincidentally what inspires Shakky to go short!)

Technically, they could also be Silvers D, as Ray got Inducted into the Clan when they got married—and so did Shakky—but he carries some emotional baggage when it comes to his parents to mirror Ace and Sabo in canon.

The kids eventually change their surnames when they come of age because they love their parents very much and they wanna honor all of them equally, and this spiritually heals Ray a little because at least two of his children willingly carry his last name out of love instead of obligation like he once did.
