88. “I can recognize a cry for help when I see one.”

Selina looked Roy up and down with an appraising gaze, as if she was sizing him up for a fight or for a beauty pageant—and, with Selina, it really could be either. She paused before looking back down at her book. “I can recognize a cry for help when I see one. And that hair—” She paused, looking back up. “Actually, that everything is definitely a cry for help.”

“Hey there, demons, it’s me...ya boy.”

“I don’t think this is how you’re supposed to summon demons,” he pointed out. Wally had just finished lighting the last of the candles, setting them out in a circle. “Also, I don’t think I want to summon demons, Roy. This all seems like a very bad idea. I mean, have you met Zee? Demons are 100% real and they don’t fuck around.” He paused. “Why are we summoning demons? Did you say you wanted to have a seance for fun?”

34. “Come in! I’ve got something that stings like crazy.” 

Wally raised his eyebrows at Roy. “No, no, I promise, just come in here. I’m not going to take any sort of revenge on you.” He paused. “Come in! I’ve got something that stings like crazy.” He paused again. “I think I just gave away the punchline. Come in anyway, I have something that doesn’t sting like crazy at all.”

After Wally had seen Bart, he had gotten some sense of what was going on in this fucked up place—and while he was mostly just hoping to get back and to see Linda, Jai and Irey, for the moment, he was concerned with seeing his friends. He hadn’t seen them for a year. Wally had been so worried, but because of the sentinels, he wasn’t able to use his abilities to go out looking for him, lest they come after him, or worse, his family. Now that he was in a time when they weren’t under that pressure, however, he was using his speed to search everywhere he could—and he ran straight into the first person he found, knocking them over as he wrapped his arms around their shoulders. It mostly to try and keep his balance, but once he had realized that was a futile endeavor, he just held them anyway. “Roy, you shit, you’ve been here this whole time?”
