Character Profile: R-3
R-3 is character from The Castle and the Breeze. This character profile contains spoilers for said story.
Aliases: “3”, “Yellow”, “Arrek”
R-3 is a former member of the Kasrakht Empire’s Talon program. Like the rest of Group R, he was kidnapped at a very young age and raised and augmented to be the perfect operative, intended to serve as part of a personal all-purpose task force for the Fourth Empress. Group R were raised to believe that the Kasrakht Empire were a kind, benevolent ruling organization, receiving constant propaganda and lies throughout their lives and having no interaction whatsoever with anyone besides their commanders, trainers, and the other Talons.
Group R unanimously attempted to defect after learning the truth about the Empire’s cruelty. When their thoughts of defection were learned of by the Fourth Empress, she activated their implanted kill-switches. However, most of them had managed to deactivate theirs beforehand, with only two managing to activate. When the kill-switches failed, the Fourth Empress sent two of her Primary Guards to kill the rest of them. The resulting conflict ended with the two Primaries dead, along with five of the remaining nine Talons. R-3 fled with the survivors, and they eventually elected to rendezvous with the Resistance fleet and attempt to work out a deal.
R-3 is physically the largest and strongest of the Group R Talons. Like the rest of Group R he lacks the wings of other Sartiir, with them having been replaced by a mechanical substitute (a highly upgraded version of that used by Sartiir soldiers). Also like the others, much of his body was augmented with or replaced by machinery, and his armor is a part of his body. His armor is grey with yellow highlights and lights, hence his nickname of “Yellow”.
He is usually rather quiet and tends to not speak unless required to, and isn’t exactly social. He has a tendency to keep to himself, and can appear cold or abrasive. However, he is extremely loyal to those who do manage to earn his friendship, and will endure hardship or put himself at risk for them without hesitation.
