I filled orders today. oh god, did I ever. I took 9 packages to the post office today. I also ordered more fur, and cut out tops for black legwarmers. on the 9th, I started designing my Beyond Wonderland Collection, and I'm hoping to get prototypes done next week.
It's been too rainy to take photos. The sun hasn't come out, not one single day this week.
I'd like to get one of each style of legwarmer that i make photographed and listed on etsy by BW. I feel like that's a good "jumping off" place, since it gives me a little time to recoup, hire some help and rethink this whole thing if it's too overwhelming, inbetween that event and EDC LA. scary shit, yo.
RIP, tutus
Calculating profit isn't the easiest thing in the world when you create all your own products. The standard calculation is something along the lines of (materials + [rate of labor x hours it took to complete]+overhead = wholesale rate). More math, awful, I know. Since making the decision to go full time, I decided to re-shape my product line. I need to cut products that AREN'T profitable, and move towards items that are. Items that have a high materials cost (like fluffies), are less time consuming. Items that have a super, super low cost, are more time consuming. I evaluated all my products, to see how my favorite items were stacking up. Skirts, fluffies, cyberlox, even tops, all of them have a pretty reasonable wholesale cost, according to the above calculation. Tutu skirts, however, I was actively LOSING money on. They took too long, and didn't sell for high enough. So they have to come off the lineup entirely. :( oh well. Looks like just one more thing to wholesale! :)
