Differences
"Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open"
~ Spoken by Albus Dumbledore, J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
I like this quote because it applies to the real world just as it applies to the fictional wizarding world of the Harry Potter Series. We let differences tear us apart. That's how the 'divide and conquer' rule works, because we're too easy to split up. We're too easy to be convinced to fight with those who we're supposed to be supporting.
Then there's language, basically meaning cultural diversity. I don't know about anyone else, but I for one, am tired of hearing the same racial remarks at school all day. You look at the receiver of those remarks and you see them looking down and then look back up in a second trying to keep the smile in place, creating a careless attitude, when they may be really hurt on the inside. Why would someone want to tease or harass someone over something they have no control over? Furthermore, something they should be proud of. Besides, people are different, and someone doesn't have to be you to be a good person. In fact, it would go the other way around because of all those rude remarks.
Its amazing what people can achieve when they stick together. Global groups, organisations and companies are great examples, and it can all be done by supporting each other instead of putting each other down.
