cool scifi creature idea
a very asocial creature or species whose survival strat is to be unidentifiable. it has extremely powerful perception detection systems and powerful, chameleon-like controls over itself. as soon as it detects a break in enemy perception, it both changes its form and its personality, near instantaneously and automatically. what would be such a creature's experience of the self? i can also imagine cool scifi plot involving such creatures. imagine a protag having to track down an instance of one of these creatures that has eaten an important object, or was infected with an important pathogen. how will the protag go about it?
example: a spider like creature that can rapidly change its limb proportions and skin texture and color, and even the appearance of the number of eyes, as well as its movement patterns, navigation style, and at least one quirk.
