14. Unpopular opinion about your fandom?
i really really hated reese/carter mainly because i felt the way it played out was so disrespectful to carter
the end of her arc at the beginning of season 3 was bullshit anyway but even moreso because they squeezed in the romance that imo came absolutely out of nowhere only to give john something to cry about
like, i loved their relationship up to that point and the friendship they had built and the sudden turn it took was not only jarring and disappointing to me personally as someone who loves male/female friendships and hates the way they usually always eventually turn romantic, but more than that i really felt they cheapened that by essentially fridging a black woman for a white dude’s manpain
to me it sent the message that her death wasn’t meaningful enough on its own, that people (both viewers and characters) wouldn’t have mourned her if it weren’t for the fact that she was the dude protag’s love interest, which is awful because carter was one of the best characters on the show and deserved to at least have her death be about her and not about anyone else
