YESSSSSSSSSS WINGED AU QUINED YESSSSSSS well, not necessarily ofc BUT LISTEN!! Of course, you can imagine I had to look up info on this so i could properly understand and bask in the glory of QuinEd preening sesh-

SO! I personally think that Edmond is, as always, very diligent when it comes to his appearance, and as such, he takes care of his feathers quite regularly, however... I'm preeeetty sure he gets pin feathers more often than not 💀

To those who don't know what those are: when feathers develop, a thin layer of keratin forms to protect it as it grows; and while it's a totally natural process, their frequency can be affected from different factors. Whether it's due to a bird's young age, molting process, a poor diet or stress for example, that waxy coating can persist, and require preening.

And I guess we're all aware of how much of a workaholic our dear Vice Captain can be, aside from his poor dietary choices (hey, he's working on that, okay?), so…

and. AUGH just. just imagine it! ₍₍⚞(˶˃ ᵕ ˂˶)⚟⁾⁾

...wait, you don't need to! Cuz I remembered I got hands that can draw xd

Oh! and another thing to note when it comes to preening is that there are some areas that one should avoid, like the wings, belly or tail. Why? Well, because birds understand that you're flirting with them if you preen or caress those spots, releasing hormones and the like. I hope that explains this reaction, ehehe ↑↑↑

Needless to say, this reaction varies for each type of Winged, but c'mon, I just had to! (ah, please excuse that i kinda forgot Ed's tail and. um. take his clothes as a peek at his SITW outfit(?)

quincy looks almost obnoxiously fond of the two of them, quietly but firmly shushing anyone who makes too much noise. god knows how much the two of them need to rest after working so hard.

quincy doesn’t say anything, of course, which only serves to make edmond even more confused. he stares up at the larger man with an expression on his face that would remind one of a slightly perturbed cat, but he only gets a smile and a shrug in return.

..and it just keeps happening. every time without a word of explanation. just a smile and a shrug, like the affectionate touch is some kind of secret language only quincy knows how to decode. it makes edmond feel frustrated at first, feeling slightly patronized. but the longer it goes on, the more he understands that quincy doesn’t mean anything by it. it’s just his way of showing affection.

the first and only time quincy says something while patting edmond on the head is to compliment him on a job well done.
