I'm frequently asked how I do the things with the fabric and make stuff so I present the quilting process, featuring the quirky feather quilt. Step 1 is the drawing out process in which I use a million pieces of graph paper and wear out all my markers. Step 2 is the math part where I have to figure out how many of each color and size I need and sometimes I screw that up and have to go back to step 1. Step 3 I cut all the fabric and inevitably I will either measure something too large or too small and will need to make another trip to JoAnn's. Step 4 in which I do all the intricate stuff like embroidery because the smaller the piece of fabric I'm working with the easier it is. (Because sitting for long periods of time with a blanket on your lap when you are a human furnace is not comfortable.) Step 5 piecing! Which is just a weird way to say, "the part where I sew all the things together and hope my math in step 2 was correct and my cutting in step 3 was correct" Step 6 the part where I clean enough of my living room to lay the whole quilt on the floor and put the fluffy inside part (batting) and the back and the top pretty part all together into one piece. Then it's just sewing all the layers together! #quilting #diy #quiltingprocess
