Strawberry and Marzipan Pastry
Well hello old friend....
And cake thingy done for a celebration. Recipe from bbc good food.
But really all you need is.
Ready rolled pastry £1.50 ish
Strawberries £2 ish
Marzipan £1.70 ish
Sugar (ANY and you don’t really need it)
Pastry unroll
Chop pastry into bits, any shape, at least two inches diameter.
Chop a bit of marzipan, 5mm thick, half or third the size of your pasty bit
Chop strawberries into slices, put on top of marzipan covering and leaving gap round the edge of the pastry so it goes puff.
Cook for 18 mins at about 180 fan or about gas 6ish/7ish, because that’s how long anything with pastry is.
You can sprinkle sugar or flaked almonds on top before cooking but you don’t really need to. People will still love it and lie that their girlfriend likes strawberries so you make it for their gf’s leaving do when it’s really the bf that likes it and remembers it from a leaving do 6 months ago.
When I say any shape thats because I don’t have enough trays and use a variety of oven-proof surfaces and cupcake trays and they still work though they come out looking like jam tarts. Mine never looks like the one below, I ain’t got time for that, but everyone is always impressed, it’s an office favourite.
