"I wore my hair like this during training," the Elezen explained. Her oval nail-tips brushed gently against Selena's scalp, just above her forehead. "When one's target is known for its wings, one must be prepared to look always above."
She said the last bit as if she were quoting someone. Perhaps, an old comrade, or a superior. Regardless of how the memories struck her, she smiled. It was peaceful, bonding with a friend over such things. Of course, Sel was not so much younger, but it made her think of her daughter's future, too. Would Victoire let her mother braid her hair when she was this age?

Inside the free company house, Selena sat still as Ireneve sat behind her. Her hands separate the dark locks of her hair. There is a small pile of leaves and other plant debris that had gotten stuck and were removed from her hair minutes before. While the young adventurer kept her hair down, there was always the chance of the strands of her hair getting caught in something.
Like today, Selena returned from a dungeon run with Lalanna and Beetle. There was so many leaves and plant debris in her hair that someone could have mistook her for a treant or a bird's nest. That is when Ireneve decided to intervene on her behalf with a hairbrush in hand.
"That sounds like practical advice." She answered sheepishly, recalling her time travelling through the Dravanian Hinterlands years ago then imagining Ireneve with her hair in a braid when she was her age. It wasn't only dragons that she'd need to worry about. There were always the aggressive birds diving down at adventurers, pulling at their hair when they got near their nests to retrieve eggs or remove said nests entirely.
"I probably should have considered pulling my hair up years ago," She added with a weak laugh, "The Leveilleur twins had the right idea for always keeping their hair in a braid."
Oh how time has changed us. Selena mused, recalling how she'd once preferred to work alone when she first arrived in Gridania. Now she's tagging along with parties for dungeon runs. The keybearer glanced over her shoulder, peeking over at Ireneve who's recently started a family of her own.
"So...How is the little one, Victoire?" Selena asked curiously.
