Dueling Club | Closed
This is the way Dueling Club has gone. You're welcome to chat about it, make up your own little things, drabble how the day went or para anything you'd like. As Frank said, I'm sorry this one was boring. I'll be much more prepared next time, and so will he.
The room fell almost completely silent as he entered it only minutes late after forgetting his bag in the Great Hall and backtracking at a run. He could feel every pair of eyes on his as he took his place at the front of the room and took a deep breath, willing himself to be collected and smooth in his deliverance. "You're welcome to take a seat," he started, and waited for the assembly to carry out his request before continuing. "I'm very glad that all of you are here. Today's going to be a bit boring and I apologize, but I'd like to give our new members a run down of how this is going to work. I've written out the spells and counter-enchantments that we'll be using and today I'd like you to look these over carefully, study them, make sure you know them. If you have any questions about them then today would be the time to ask. We'll only be going over Expelliarmus and Protego today and next meeting we'll be delving deeper, perfecting technique and having a few duels of our own. I won't tell you not to practice them outside of club but I would recommend that you practice safely. I'll be assigning you partners today, that partner will be the person you'll be participating in a challenge with at the end of the year." Picking up his stack of papers, he halved them and handed a stack each to the two people closest to him on his left. "Can you two hand these out for me, please? No magic," he asked with a jested grin, beaming at Greta, the excitement in her face as apparent as his as his hand lingered lightly, carefully and subtlety over Alice's. "Alright," he continued as the papers fluttered loudly through the colossal room. "I'd like to sit here and have each of you tell me your name, but I believe we're a bit past that so you're welcome to introduce yourselves to each other if you need while the old man finds his glasses." He chuckled along with them, pulling his bag to his chest and digging until he found the pair before opening the other set of parchment in front of him, reading off the names quickly. The students in front of him glanced over one another, finding each other as he read off the pairings. He walked around his bag, glancing up as he finished it off, running through the last of the names with his finger. "Emmeline Vance, you'll be with Sirius Black. Marlene McKinnon, Alice Fawcett. Peter Pettigrew, Annabelle Tooker. Gideon Prewett, Fabian Prewett. James Potter, Abigail Brennan and Greta Catchlove, you'll be with me." Frank almost laughed at the prospect of their upcoming and imminent duel, something they had been looking forward to for such a long time. "Today, you're welcome to pair off however you'd like, so do that now, please." And as Frank set down his parchment and Alice took her unspoken place beside him, Frank went over the spells carefully before watching over his peers with curiousity and hopefulness, happy that he had taken this position, knowing that he was right for it after all, more than well aware that in this world, in their time, this was so much more than important.Â
