What do they do for a living? Do they make good money?

In the time period I tend to write Rose in (the 17 months between Aizen’s defeat and the Quincy Invasion), he is a Captain in the Gotei 13 who has recently returned from a century of wrongful exile in the world of the living and earns a good salary from this.

During his exile, Rose had a number of jobs over the year in order to contribute to the Vizard’s household expenses and ensure the group’s survival. Obtaining employment was initially easier said than done as the education he’d received in the Seireitei was very niche, leaving him with very few transferable skills. Eventually, he used his talents as a musician to his advantage, initially gaining employment through various theatres as a Shamisen player, progressing on to other instruments as the years went by. He took up both the piano and the guitar whilst in the world of the living, and became proficient in both by the end of his exile. As times changed, Rose took on jobs which neither utilised his musical nor military talents less but paid the bills. He took on roles as a busker and a shop worker during his time in the world of the living. Sadly, none of the roles he took on in the human world were particularly well paid and now that he’s a Captain again, he does enjoy having more money.

How do they see their profession?

Now, he sees himself as a man of the military; a solider who is responsible for the safety and well-being of the men under his command. He’s proud of this position and views his job as necessary to keep balance between the realms.

During his exile, he took a more indulgent attitude towards work, viewing himself primarily as a musician and artist (even when working in a shop). In his opinion this kind of work (the entertainment of others and bringing beauty to the world) held a different type of importance to his work with the Gotei, but was still something he could take pride in.

What do they like or dislike about it?

Rose has had reservations returning to the soul society, he enjoyed his time in the world of the living and is painfully aware of the amount of work that needs to be done to ensure the Third Division gets back to operating correctly. He views the work as a challenge, but one that overwhelms him at times, and he’s questioned if returning to soul society was really the best idea for him on several occasions.

What kind of relationship do they have with other co-workers or employees? How do they feel about the boss?

Ideally, Rose would like to be liked by the men under his command, especially Izuru. This can lead to him being very overbearing at times as he tries to befriend less enthusiastic/ more reserved people. In terms of his relationship with the Gotei 13 leadership, he is of course loyal to the Captain commander (whether that be Yamamoto or Kyoraku) and has made uneasy peace with why his exile happened and the reasoning behind it.

How satisfied are they in their work in general?

He’s reasonably satisfied with his current work as Captain. He likes that he has the influence to try and make things better for the men under his command and is proud of his Division’s achievements.  He can’t, however, say he likes the organisation he works for.

What are their professional ambitions?

Now he’s returned, Rose’s goals are more focused on his squad and his lieutenant  rather than his own personal ambitions. Restoration is key, he wants to see the third Division recover and rebuild from the Winter War. He doesn’t necessarily think that Gin did a bad job as captain, but his absence and the strain doing two jobs put on Izuru has taken its toll, and he’s aware the Division needs proper leadership in order to get back on track.  He’s also concerned about the emotional well-being of his officers, (Izuru in particular,) and views improving this as important.

   Caminó sin decirle nada a su amada hasta llegar finalmente a donde pudieran verse la luna y las estrellas. La luz de la luna acentuaba la belleza de Hinata a su máximo esplendor, ¿no era eso maravilloso?

   —Sé que me he tomado un gran atrevimiento esta noche, Hinata-sama... —por fin habló, sin mirarla por el momento, estaba preparándose para poder decir lo que tenía para expresar aquella noche— Quiero agradecerle por estar siempre a mi lado, yo... juré protegerla con mi vida, y ahora, juro que todo mi amor será entregado esta noche aquí y ahora.

   Volteó y extendió la bolsa hacia ella.

   —No es mucho, pero quiero que sepa que lo hice pensando en que podría celebrar todo el día con usted, aunque quizás... Mirar la noche a su lado no es tan malo tampoco —dijo, sonriendo con un ligero rubor en sus mejillas—... Gracias por ser tú, Hinata.

   El día anterior a San Valentín le había mandado un mensaje, que si bien hablaban casi a diario... Ahora le había pedido verlo afuera de sus departamentos al día siguiente cuando llegaran de la escuela, ¿a caso no era obvio? Y aun así él... él le había contestado, no pudo dormir toda la noche ante lo ansioso que estaba por poder verlo de otra manera, ¡ni siquiera se había concentrado mucho en clase! Así que hizo lo más prudente: salir temprano, como si no le importara más nada... y tratar de descansar una vez llegara a casa.

   Pasaron las horas y finalmente se acercó el momento que tanto esperaba. Estaba frente a Christophe, callado, nervioso... Se iría pronto de ahí, seguramente, así que tomó aire, como si de esa forma pudiera darse valor a sí mismo.

   —Chris... Escucha, quizás es poco el tiempo en el que hemos hablado, pero... Me... agradas, es decir, me gustas de una forma que quizás no sólo es amistad, y aunque esta fecha es... rara, quería preguntarte una cosa... —por “rara” se refería a que era, sin duda, algo más comercial que romántico para todo el mundo, pero era algo que deseaba aprovechar en ese momento o quizás nunca tendría el valor de declararse así.

   —¿Quieres ser mi Valentín...?

No me siento tan bien que digamos, por eso he retrasado un poco lo de los starters, pero saldrán en queue hoy y mañana, espero me comprendan.

   Amor. Nunca pensó que pudiera decirlo así.

   Ella no era alguien muy femenina que digamos, sin embargo, gracias a algunas chicas que se encontraban cocinando chocolates para las personas amadas, ella también logró conseguir hacer el suyo para la princesa mayor de Nohr.

   —Camilla-san... ¿podrías acercarte... un momento? —llamó la atención de la otra mujer, que parecía estar entrenando arduamente para las siguientes batallas— Hay algo que deseo darte ahora mismo.

   Aunque pretendiera ser un hombre fuerte para el bien de su compañía y, por sobre todo, para el de su hija… Lo cierto era que toda esa fachada de un hombre feliz, maduro y por sobre todo, resistente ante todo problema era simplemente eso, una pantalla que no quería que nadie viera, en especial su hija… que para desgracia suya, en ese momento en el que se estaba quebrando una vez más, lo había visto.

   Ella no tenía por qué soportar aquello que le atormentaba, sabía que se estaba adaptando todavía… pero le destrozaba el corazón que cargara incluso con sus propias desgracias. Su ojos, que ya estaban humedecidos, se cerraron con fuerza por un breve momento a la par que trataba de deshacerse de aquel molesto nudo en su garganta pasando saliva por ella. Después, intentó sonreírle de la manera más sincera posible, pues ella era la única alegría verdadera que tenía desde el momento en que nació.

   —Tsubasa, mi princesa, sabes que tus abrazos siempre son bienvenidos —y era lo que, de hecho, le mantenía fuerte a pesar de -irónicamente- tener más ganas de derrumbarse y pedirle perdón por todo lo que había hecho, a pesar de ser inocente.

   Aunque podía parecer cursi, eligió lo más clásico que pudo obtener en la tienda que estaba cerca de la ciudadela: un chocolate en forma de corazón, con el nombre de Kogitsunemaru escrito en él por petición suya... Y también, compró algo de té. Quizás el té y el chocolate no se llevarían bien, pero siempre era oportuno tener té para poder conversar -y mimar- a su amado zorro.

   —Kogitsunemaru, ¿puedes venir un momento? —llamó al albino, feliz por lo que le daría en cuanto estuviera ahí, a su lado.

   ¿Por qué no le sorprendía todo lo que veía frente a ella? Quizás… era un poco exagerado a su ver, y aunque ella viviera en un castillo, ¿dónde terminaría poniendo todas esas cosas? Bueno, quizás las rosas podría colocarlas en los diversos jarrones del gran castillo de Ylisse, pero, ¿y el chocolate? ¿No Maribelle se sentiría mal si lo compartía con otros? Y los peluches... ... ... Bueno, esos sí se quedarían en su habitación, sí, eso sí no se puede quedar fuera de ahí.

   Y tampoco el perfume, ¡la conocía tan bien!

   —Nunca cambiarás, ¿cierto, Maribelle? —habló para sí misma al leer la nota, contenta porque, a pesar de estar lejos, al menos podía contar siempre con su amor incondicional. Acercó el fino papel a sus labios y lo besó, como si se tratara de ella.

   —Yo también soy tuya, hm hm~ Y espero... regreses pronto, te extraño.
