Museums!!! Museums are so fun for day trips. Going to children’s museums and filling out the activity sheets is so fun, and I can easily spend an entire day wandering around an art museum or natural history museum. Historical buildings like the Newport Mansions make for cool day trips too.
When I first read this question I tried to think of specific cities I like to visit. That’s tough though. A weekend in New Hampshire in autumn is lovely. A summer or winter day messing around NYC also has a kind of magic to it. And Salem, MA, will always have my heart, no matter how tacky it is. And I honestly daydream about taking a vacation to DC and going to all the Smithsonian museums with a friend or lover. I guess it all winds up coming back to museums, really....
