As promised, hereās the first weekly question roundup!
These questions come from peopleās applications, the AI Discord server, and private messages.
Most are about applications, as is to be expected; like what examples are acceptable, and how writers can work with the word limit. But there are also questions about things like relationships in the zine or what mediums contributors can use.

Will you provide any sort of themes for contributors?
The zine itself will not have a theme. If you need help coming up with ideas, let us know after youāre accepted, and weāll help you brainstorm!
What charity is this going to?
We have a list of options, but weād like to discuss it with our contributors before making a final decision.
Currently weāre looking at charities for the LGBT+ community, cancer patients and survivors, or childrenās welfare and support.
Can I use fics that are over 1500 words as examples? What about under 1500 words?
Itās completely fine if youād like to go under the limit, but please do not go over it. This is both to make it easier for us to go through all the applications, and to confirm you can still write quality fic with a shorter word count.
If you wanted to have one 3000 word fic and one 1500 word fic, that would count as your three examples and would also be fine (but please don't have 1 fic that's 4500 - we still need at least one short example). However, keep in mind that youād still have to keep your zine fic under 1500, if youāre accepted.
Will you be checking apps as you get them, or only after they close?
Weāll be giving apps scores as we receive them to save time, but weāll only actually decide on contributors after apps close.
Can I include sketches as examples?
You can,, but more preferably as a last resort - for example, if you have a sketch that shows off your composition skills better than any finished work, then thatās fine. However, please include at least one colored and complete work.
Can I change my application later?
Yes, just resubmit it and leave a note so that weāre aware, and can update our sheets accordingly.
Can I draw a comic for the zine?
Yes! However, that will count as your one illustration, and as such, it will have to fit in a single page. Youāll also have to be careful to make sure any dialogue will still be readable at print size.
I do a weird medium (IE: Spray Paint Art on posterboard) would it still be possible to submit a piece? (asked by @genderfluid-chameleonā)
There is no limit on what medium you can use. Just please make sure youāre able to get a clear, high-quality, 300 dpi image of your work, and show in your application that you can.
If Iām accepted as a contributor, can I receive only a digital copy as compensation and forfeit my physical copy?
Yes. In that situation, you could choose to either give your bundle to a friend, or we could put it in a giveaway - your choice.
Are OCs allowed?
If you want to have them as side characters in the background, thatād be alright. However, the focus must be on existing characters. This goes for both artwork and fic.
Is it okay if I include spoilers for (X) in my application?
Thereās no need to worry about spoiling AI or the Zero Escape trilogy. For anything else, if youāre concerned about spoiling a mod, just make a note of what it spoils. Thanks for thinking of us!
Can you give more details on the limits mentioned in the FAQ for characters aged 17-19?
Weāve decided that, for characters within that age group, established relationships will only be allowed within a maximum age gap of 2 years. Relationships with a larger age gap will have to be handled carefully, and discussed with a mod before the idea can be executed, to make sure no boundaries are crossed.
The 2-year age gap limit does NOT apply when both characters are 20 or over. And, of course, as stated in the FAQ, romantic relationships with Mizuki will not be permitted.

Some questions from the applications that weād like to address:
Can we create fanworks/use licensed characters (i.e. Marvelās Thor and Loki, etc.)?
No. This is not a fandom anthology and we expect all our creatorsā pieces - though inspired by other sources - to be original works. Fanworks will not be accepted.
What is the expected word count for written works?
Weāre setting a tentative min/max range of 2k-5k words. This may change slightly after we review and confirm formatting specifications but the final numbers wonāt be too far off this estimate.Ā
Do stories have to be focused on a deity/deities?
Not at all! As long as your work is rooted in myth, legend, or folklore and fits with the theme of quests and journeys, you are free to focus on whatever and whomever you wish.Ā
Will we have betas for our writing/art?
There will be a beta exchange later in the process of creating the anthology. The mods will keep an eye on everyoneās works, but will be busy with creating the anthology, so we wonāt be able to check over every work meticulously, but there will be a process to make sure everything is running smoothly and all works are polished.
How much time will accepted creators have to work on their pieces?
Our timeline is yet to be confirmed but weāre looking at a time frame of at least 3-4 months for creators to complete their works!
