My VR headset, the Quest 2, is a relatively front heavy device of about 500 grams. This is practically the equivalent of attaching a tiny toaster to your forehead and playing with it.
I don’t have any custom head straps or fancy accessories, so my sessions are short and my neck can hurt after a bit.
However, the other day I had an epiphany.
What if I just… Make a counterweight?
So, I measured the weight of the Quest 2, then grabbed a water bottle, filled it with enough water so that the whole thing would have the same weight as the headset, then dropped it inside a sock, and placed its cuff under the head straps so that it would securely hang from the back of my head.
And you know what? My neck has never felt this comfortable playing VR.
IF IT’S STUPID BUT IT WORKS IT AIN’T STUPID!
