Querate
"What gets measured gets managed."
- Peter Drucker
It is true that "What doesn't get measured, can't be managed."
Typically, brands and labels go through weeks (sometimes months) of design, creating samples, manufacturing them in huge workshops, do quality control, pack them, ship them to stores near you. This is just the logistics part of it. The other side is the sales and the marketing effort which starts once the samples arrive from the designers. This is a capital intensive enterprise. Before the goods reach the customers, it is just a gamble. There is lot of calculated risks involved but they reduce experimentation on the designers side. This is the primary reason everyone loves tried & tested name. Less risk.
Querate would like to infuse some method and data into the decisions without inhibiting the designers' creative process. We just take the sample designs to limited users and get it validated, before they get manufactured. This way the designer can get really out of the box and labels can limit their manufacturing numbers based on user feedback, thus reducing cost.
The saving is not just for the label. The wholesaler and retailer too save a ton in terms of logistics, marketing and retail space. Cotton, fabric, thread gets produced in different continents and stitching happens in a different continent. Imagine the carbon footprint a t-shirt leaves. Optimal manufacturing helps in reducing carbon footprint also.
Fast fashion is in-vogue now. The amount of fashion that is hitting the stores every week is mind-boggling. Zara, the top fast fashion brand hits new mini-collection every 5 weeks. The "design to store" cycle is getting reduced drastically every year. Labels want to get quick feedback from users to get the designs out as soon as possible.
We help companies make better decisions when it comes to which design should get manufactured in quantities. We get users to rate designs and do data crunching to give meaningful data points to brands.
When the time of market for fashion labels is reduced to weeks, using quick user feedback is going to make these labels way more optimal than their competitors.
Welcome to 21st century of doing fashion business.
