THOUGHTS: in defense of Kanye on TMZ, going way-left on the subject of slavery; we need to consider giving him a pass. Here’s why: he vents/like a rapper freestyles, spitting random thoughts as if by magical timing. He’s done this via his music, but he’s also done it in conversation, via the biggest media. For instance, the Katrina telethon when he went hard with the whole “George Bush doesn’t like Black people” on live tv. The Taylor Swift incident on MTV, where he I handed the mic from this fragile White singer to unleash his disagreement with a certain award. Then there was issue with Sway: “you don’t got the answers!” And now the TMZ rant. “I feel like slavery was a choice” Out of these 4 incidents, 2 of them were from a pro-black position; that, or he felt bias or disrespect. 1 of the rants was addressing his frustration with getting top billing in fashion/when he got g-checked by Radio host #SwayCalloway. But in most all of his music, Kanye has been looking out for us, speaking out against one wrong disenfranchisement Andrew another. Okay, so then he got married (to a White woman-nonetheless) and of course we judge that move. And if you’re keeping track, that event followed his mommas death, which followed his life-altering car accident. Folks this dude’s life is radical, random and in some ways misguided. But at times, so too was Michael Jackson’s life. So too was DMX’s life. And rappers and ballers and politicians can also all be thrown under that bus as crazy, insane, entitled by the wealth their talents afford them. Kanye’s voice moves mountains folks. Whether you accept that or not. Yeah he foamed at the mouth this time. Yeah he’s insulated inside of his creamy white gated world. But Kanye’s outburst, however inaccurate, is nothing close to the satire of #KeyandPeele #alldefdigital or #Quentinterrantino as it relates to slavery.
