I sent a "coming out" letter to my mom and dad telling them that I'm getting married to a woman... it was honestly the safest way for me to come out with the news.
I'm a 31 year old Ada that grew up in a Nigerian catholic home. So you can imagine the weight of them finding that email. Oh well.
My dad responded to my email with the message preview saying "... Do not reply. God Almighty..." I haven't clicked on the email yet. There is no need to right now. There's an indication that whatever is in that letter is not a conversation. its for my information only... lol... no response needed.
I guess we can only imagine what he said. At this point, there hasn't been any communication from them.
I am right now focused on my wedding that is coming up in April. Maybe months after the wedding I'll read it...
I'm getting married to the love of my life. She is so beautiful in and out. She has proven to be my person, we've shared parts of ourselves that only a level of safety can allow. She's my home
As much as I wish for their acceptance, I don't need it.
I want to beat my chest and say I lived this life being brave! Living in my truth.
