sure fire way to make ren upset is to be someone he cares about, and be in pain. for those that hold a place in his heart, ren is extremely empathetic. during a relationship prompt with nora i received a while back, i stated that if nora were to start crying, if she was in true, genuine emotional and/or physical pain then ren would feel the same. for sure, everything that transpired after volume three has had a huge negative impact on ren’s mental health, and has recently resolved to only crying in private; he needs to be strong for nora and jaune’s sake, and for all the friends that have remained behind. ren used to be a crybaby back when he was still a child; crying over every little thing; dropped ice cream, scrapped knees. but the life that he was forced into didn’t allow for embarrassing pubic displays like crying; and so he has stilled himself against the act, and will try his damnedest to keep his composure. it’s actually quite frightening, what he can go through without showing any sign of outward expression, depending on how highly he values someone else’s feelings. ren will cry during extreme emotional breaks; mental breakdowns that are an accumulation of everything negative currently going on in his life, during times of extreme frustration, and major emotional loss.

     sacred. there are two other nora’s in the inbox so hopefully this doesn’t get repetitive. each of them are going to have different answers of course, depending on the interactions we’ve had.
