    It had been no sort of secret to Anastasia as the days had turned to weeks in that dreadful house in the middle of nowhere that her family was in grave danger. How she’d managed to escape it was a long and convoluted story, but it had ended in a mother, a father, and an entire family making a sacrifice that meant their line would continue. 

   The English envoy had found her that day, telling her that he’d been sent from her ageing great-grandmother. That she would be safe from any Bolshevik in England, yet again under her grandmother’s protection. She was the most powerful woman in the world, after all. Victoria could do what she liked, and if that was keeping the youngest Grand Duchess from becoming a ghost of history, than so be it. 

   The journey had been long and perilous, and for a moment, Anastasia had hardly recognised the elegant frame that was Buckingham Palace in both her own and the building’s cover of darkness. It was almost too good to be true as she’d spotted a light come on in one of the royal wings. Someone alerting her grandmother as to what had transpired. Anastasia worried, of course, that it was too late, that her grandmother was sickly and could not get out of bed and that she would make it to safety only to lose someone else precious to her. But no. Victoria was not so easily put down. 

   Anastasia holds firm as her grandmother walks into the room, shedding the cap and long coat she’d had to wear to hide her nicer clothing. Head held high, chin a little forward, a stone mask of calm on her face as her posture straightened. Everything her grandmother had trained her to be. Every inch a queen in her own rights.

I think they were trying to soften the blow by making Lizzie sort of accept it… But when she had no choice either way it’s bloody rape! It makes my head hurt.

It was HIGH KEY unnecessary tbh!

Like I basically despise Gregory and everything she’s written, but from what I saw someone talking about it’s the typical “Oh she was totally into it in the end so it’s SO not rape”.

It’s all about being a Queen, someone has to do it and they just so happen to be VERY up to the task!
