Just out of a university meeting, Philip was meandering down the hall when he heard his cell phone, curiosity piqued. Was it one of the other professors? Once he reached his office, he made to check his phone, a smile on his face to see that it was a message from Queenie. She never failed to bring warmth to his day. Opening the message, it took him a moment to fully process what he was looking at. ( oh newton, oh dear ) This was not what he had ever expected. Even if he wanted to look at the picture longer, it didn’t feel right. Especially if she never meant to send the picture to him, which he suspected was the case.

“I’m sorry to be the bearer of such horrible news... but... we’ve done all we can Mrs Scamander... Your body suffered severe trauma during the delivery, even with potions and magic... there’s nothing to be done.” The head nurse had such deeply sorrowful eyes, and Tina wanted nothing more than to claw at them for looking at her in such a way. How could there be nothing left to do? How was that even possible? 

“If you and your husband were to attempt to have another child... you will die. As will the child. It’s a miracle that your little boy was born as healthy as he is. There are other options, if you do chose to have add to your family... adoption is a possibi-” Tina cut the woman off with a sharp angry,

“Get. Out.” the sorrow and rage all storming within her.

“Mrs-”

“I said GET OUT!”

Tina sat staring out the window of the nursery, rocking rhythmically in time to the lullaby she hummed softly. Their infant son had nodded off easily 15 minutes earlier, but she couldn’t bring herself to place him down in the crib. There was nothing wrong with it, Newt had spent ages making the baby bed by hand. Their child would know that he was loved and appreciated dearly through each and every action. Unfortunately the Ministry seemed to need the assistance of a magizoologists rather frequently as of late... which meant Tina was alone with their son for long periods of time.
