A sketch of Queen Joan of England ( aka Joan of Kent ) in A Knights Tale
Okay I know its not the most historically accurate. But A Knights Tale cinemaphotography and costumes is inspired by Pre Raphaelite Medievalisms so its like a whimsy historical fiction satire anyway ( and a very great one at that )
So I modeled this sketch on Robin Wright and those Pre Raphaelite versions of Queen Guinevere - Queen Joan in A Knights Tale is this tall, beautiful blonde Queen with dresses that has more layers and jewels than Jocelyn ( again, comes with social rank differences ). So in A Knights Tale I can see Queen Joan being kinda like Queen Charlotte in Bridgerton - she basically spends her days outside of politics hosting parties and such and she tried to set several Knights in that Midsummer Tourney in London to several of the ladies of the court.
Headcanon that Queen Joan shipped ' Sir William ' and Lady Jocelyn from the beginning, so she pulled strings for that union to come true, while handling her own politics.
The final climax basically has her and King Edward sitting side by side and being a tender couple and watching William win the tourney. Bless 🤩🤩🤩🤩🥹
Also here are some outfits I found for Queen Joan in A Knights Tale:
Robin Wright is also Princess Buttercup in The Princess Bride, Claire Underwood from House of Cards, and also my face claim/fancast for Lady Theodwyn ( Eowyn and Eomer's late mother )
