Quantum Genomics strengthens its scientific committee with nomination of Prof. Frans Leenen, renowned expert in heart failure
Quantum Genomics has announced the appointment of Professor Frans Leenen, a leading cardiovascular specialist, to its Scientific Committee. Frans Leenen leads the Hypertension Clinical Research Program at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. He is also Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology in the Department of Medicine and the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine at the University of Ottawa.
He is a world-renowned specialist in the study of the sympathetic nervous system and his research focuses on the role of brain mechanisms in hypertension and heart failure and the ways in which these mechanisms are inhibited by therapeutic treatment. He was one of the principal investigators of the ALLHAT study (Antihypertensive and Lipid-Lowering Treatment to Prevent Heart Attack Trial), the largest ever conducted with people with hypertension and to which more than 42,000 volunteers in 600 centers in Canada and the United States participated. He is also the author of more than 300 scientific publications in prestigious journals.
Upcoming Quantum Genomics meetings include the BIO-Europe Amsterdam conference from March 12-14 and the BIO International Convention Boston from June 4-7. The 2017 results will be published on March 29th.
