Wait wait you know what would be funny. In Sylux’s debut game, we’re introduced to Petrasyls and Quadtroids, obviously knock offs of Metroids because the game needed to justify the series title, yet it wouldn’t make sense for actual Metroids to appear in the Alimbic Cluster. So instead we get these inferior versions that are much easier to deal with.
And now Sylux has returned and will likely shed some light on the origins of Mochtroids in Beyond. So what if another ‘character’ returns in some capacity through these knock-off Metroids. What if Mochtroids are shitty clones of Metroids because the Space Pirates filled in missing DNA with that of Petrasyls and Quadtroids. The bootlegs help create another bootleg. It’d be poetic and meta.
Hell, maybe it was Sylux’s idea! If Petrasyls and Quadtroids are native to the Alimbic Cluster and he spent time there, he might’ve come across them. Maybe he suggested them as gap-fillers to the Space Pirates, or they checked out the Alimbic Cluster after Sylux told them about it and came up with the idea themselves.
And by the time he explained that he already had an actual Metroid that imprinted on him to clone with beta-rays, they were still going through with Mochtroids in case they needed to derive an army from just DNA samples; Which was a scenario that eventually did happen, but alas that solution never came to fruition.
