Owen Pallett - Heartland (Deluxe)

happy tuesday y’all. I discovered Owen Pallett a while back, I forget exactly how but I know it was during the days when he used to go by “Final Fantasy”. Pallett is a U of T music school grad in composition and a violinist. Heartland was a move in a more orchestral direction, which seemed to nicely contrast his older stuff which was a lot of violin and piano. 

He’s playing at the Great Hall on April 8, which I’m super excited for. Get yo’ tix!

I don’t know much about Neo Rakgajane a.k.a PolyesterVelcro other than the fact that he’s from Johannesburg, South Africa. Excerpt from his SoundCloud page:

I have always been far more interested in sound than technique, and how sounds work together, how they can be layered. I think electronic music, in its infancy anyway, allowed us to create music in a way that hadn't really been possible before. It created a new kind of musician.

His mixes remind me of J Dilla, probably why the style draws me in so much.
