Skeleton Key
Part 1:
Wukong is getting ready for MK’s big day. His successor is getting a key from the mayor himself! As proud of MK as he is, he can’t help but feel a bit of suspicion at the whole scenario.
Wukong: “Okay, I’m ready! Time to-”
His monkeys go crazy outside as a familiar laugh reaches his ears.
Macaque: [outside, laughing] “Okay, okay, I missed you all too!”
Wukong’s eyes widen as he opens the door to his house to see Macaque standing there, getting bombarded by his own subjects.
Wukong: “Macaque?! What are you doing he-”
Macaque: “I have to do a longer shift at the theater today, and since I don’t trust to leave them alone... I want you to watch the kids.”
Wukong’s eyes widen in complete shock and disbelief. He was finally going to meet his kids? Macaque’s trusting him with this?
Wukong: “... you’re trusting me with this?”
Macaque: “Of course not, but I don’t really have a choice since the babysitter cancelled.”
Wukong: [in his mind] Oh, that makes more sense.
Macaque sighs.
Macaque: “Wukong, meet-”
An orange blur shoots himself at Wukong, tackling him in a hug.
Ye: “Hi, I’m Ye!”
Wukong laughs at his excitement.
Wukong: “Nice to meet you, Ye. Wow, you look a lot like me.”
Zhen quietly peeks out from behind Macaque before stepping up to Wukong. Wukong’s expression softens as he gets up and kneels in front of him.
Wukong: “Hey, kiddo. I’m Wukong.”
Zhen: “... I’m Zhen. Hello.”
Wukong smiles gently until he feels someone pick up his cape.
Hui: “A cape? Really? This doesn’t exactly help you fight in battle if it gets caught in something, and your enemy takes advantage of your momentary distraction to make a hit.”
Wukong: “Um, I’ll keep that in mind. You are?”
Hui: “... Hui.”
Wukong: “I see.”
Finally, Jing walks up to Wukong and bows politely.
Jing: “Hi there, my name is Jing. It’s nice to meet you, Baba.”
Wukong: [in his mind] Baba... I’m a Baba...
Wukong smiles, feeling so much love that he has never felt before.
Wukong: “It’s nice to meet you too, Jing.”
Macaque smiles softly before clearing his throat and putting on a stern face.
Macaque: “Okay, you troublemakers. Behave. I’m going to go on my shift now. Be good for your Baba... okay?”
Quadruplets: “We will. Bye, Mama!”
Wukong snorts at the name which earns him a glare from Macaque before the shadow monkey teleports away.
Ye: “So, Baba... who’s ready for some mischief?”
