Quacks of Quedlinburg. Somehow I have managed to avoid playing this over the past couple years! So nice to finally give it a try. It’s definitely in the Dominion/Kingdom Builder/Quarriors model, a pretty simple game of finding combos and probabilities but with chits in a bag. Quacks is kind of nice because it also adds a push-your-luck element, something I (generally) like. We played twice; I thought it was fine but I might be done. It has the same issue as many all-up-front deck-building games (like Dominion) have - there is often really just one right answer for a given setup, and the person who finds it has the best chance to win. Also, the randomness is just crazy, especially given the time and complexity investment. Really bad draws on turn 3 or 4 will just absolutely kill you. It’s also pretty dry and mechanical for my tastes; not a lot of narrative to this one. Anyway, I enjoyed learning and playing a couple times, it’s an interesting design, but I don’t think I need to play it again. #bgg #boardgamegeek #boardgames #quacksofquedlinburg #j2s #brettspiele #kennerspieldesjahres https://www.instagram.com/p/B6mmTdkB0hz/?igshid=94tct6hsyqis
