Aiden lives systematically, between the 1s and the 0s, exactly as consistent, precise and methodological. But there’s where the similarities end. He’s a series of paradoxes, slow, but swift; shallow, but deep; neglectful, but manipulative. It all plays off to create a monster.

I was going to lie down on the floor of my apartment in the draft of the air conditioner and spend two days and nights traveling a circuit of regret, self-pity, and jealousy. But maybe you’re right, the next morning, the sun will go up and I’ll eat my toast and drink my tea.

At this point, a curious thought struck him, and it was this: Was it true there was some kind of bomb attack? Was it not possible that the culprit still on the run by now? He stood there for a long time thinking these horrid thoughts. The deafening sound of siren, the constant chattering and words being lashed out by the people around him.
